Quartz, also called Himalayan Ice Quartz,is the name coined to describe a specific group of interference-growth quartz crystals discovered in the Himalayan Mountains in 2006, at an altitude of about 18,000 feet. It was discovereddue to the melting of glaciers caused by global warming.
They have apparently lain beneath the ice for thousands of years. The crystals themselves visually resemble ice sheets and jagged crevices. These are formed and complicated irregularities, with deep recesses and strange contours. No two pieces are alike, although it is clear that they are all a single species. Although most do not have the regular six-body, pointed-tip terminations of most types of quartz, they occasionally have natural facets and partially smooth bodies. Most are rod-shaped; many are rather thick and squat. An unusually high percentage are trigonic, with triangles etched into their surfaces.

A crystal is trigonic if it displays a triangle inscribed on one or more terminations.
Hardness: 7.
Color: white or light pink.
The coloration of about half of the specimens appears to derive from inclusions on or near their surfaces.
Growth interference quartz is said to get its fantastic shapes from the growth of calcite or other minerals within and during the formation of the quartz crystal body. Later, the interfering mineral dissolves, leaving the strangely shaped quartz.
They apparently existed and remained silent under the ice for thousands of years, waiting to present themselves to thehuman world.
The trigonal system can be found in clear quartz, amethyst, citrine, or smoky quartz. Clear quartz offers the highest vibrations. Amethyst enhances protection, citrine increases mental clarity, and smoky quartz facilitates grounding.
