- Family of natural glasses.
Color :
- Black, Gray, Brown Ribbons, Rarely Green to Dark Green, Blue to Dark Blue, Red, Sometimes Iridescence (Celestial Eye), Black spotted with white flakes of Christobalite (Snowy Obsidian), Sometimes golden or silver.

- SiO2 (66 to 72% + Oxides of Ca, Na, K, etc. Basalt glasses are approximately 50% SiO2).
