• Adularia moonstone.

Etymology:

• Moonstone: Referring to the bluish effect (adularescence) reminiscent of the moonlight. Trade name. | Adularia: From Mount Adula in Austria (Pini, 1783).

Group, Family:

• Feldspar group, (variety of orthoclase, labradorite, albite-oligoclase, albite, perthite) .

Deposits:

• Brazil, Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Africa: Tanzania, Madagascar, etc.

Color :

• Clear, white, pink or gray, sometimes black, orange, or brown .

Chandelier:

• Vitreous, Pearly on the cleavage .

Crystal system:

• Monoclinic (orthoclase) and/or Triclinic (albite, oligoclase) .

Chemical composition:

• Moonstone is usually given for Orthoclase: K[AlSi3O8] but sometimes also for other Feldspars showing adularescence: Labradorite | Mixtures of albite, oligoclase, orthoclase, microcline, perthite. | Coloration/Effect: Light scattering by thin layers and/or fine particles of one feldspar exsolvated in another.

Density :

• 2.53 to 2.72.

Hardness:

• 6 to 6.5

Cleavage:

• Perfect.

Break:

• Irregular.

Additional information:

• Fake moonstones are found. The doublet technique and the colored coating of stones, then called "celestial moonstones," are deceptive practices aimed at artificially intensifying colors and reflections. Attempts to imitate moonstones are made by heating colorless synthetic spinels to obtain a milky appearance.
• The name "Californian moonstone" is prohibited since it actually refers to chalcedony.
• Some confusion is often possible with other crystals such as: Girasol Quartz, White Chalcedony, White Agate, Opal, White Opal and Selenite.

Cleaning, recharging, reprogramming:

• Clean with clear spring water or filtered water (never add salt to the water. Salt alters the structure of the mineral and damages it). Soak the mineral overnight in an unmarked glass container, then take it out in the morning to rinse it with new spring or filtered water. 
• Direct recharging on a crystal or amethyst druse, in a crystal or amethyst geode. You can also place a dozen laser or rock crystals in a circle (like a time dial), points towards the center, and place your minerals in the center to recharge them. Another method is to place your minerals in a singing bowl: Tibetan or crystal bowl, (on a cotton cloth to avoid bowl / mineral vibrations), then ring the bowl to fill your minerals with this sound energy. Last method, place your minerals on a disc (wood or mineral) engraved with the flower of life or the seal of Solomon or any other form of sacred geometry. 
• Reprogramming: Reprogramming is not about telling your mineral what to do or not to do, but about putting the mineral in resonance with you to ask it to do what it must do, for you. Reprogramming must be done after each cleansing and must remain simple. Example of reprogramming: "I ask this mineral to bring me all the virtues and benefits on the different levels, for my greater good as well as for the greater good of the people around me."
