Etymology :

  • Named after the province of Andalusia (Spain) where it was discovered (Delametherie, 1789).

  • Green-brown, Green-yellow to Apple green (viridine), Dark yellow, Orange-brown, Red-brown, Brown, sometimes almost Colorless to White-gray or Blue, Sometimes Black cross pattern on Brown andalusite (chiastolite : sometimes assimilated to a trapiche type crystallization), Sometimes asterism or chatoyance.
