Presentation :

• “Hematite comes from the Greek “Haimatites” itself derived from “Haima” meaning “blood”. Very often, it is called oligist but they should not be confused because the latter is heliotrope.
  
• An iron oxide in its own right, hematite stone is also composed of manganese, titanium and aluminum. It is part of the corundum-hematite family where most of these minerals have a crystalline structure. This stone is essentially black and silvery gray. It is possible to find it in its raw state resulting from high temperature formation in geologically very different places.

Crystal system:

• Numerous variants: specular iron in aggregate of large crystals, "pink eisen" with tabular crystals in rosette, micaceous oligist in foliaceous aggregates, red hematite in aggregates of nipple-like concretions.
