Presentation :

  • Tektite is a Stone that results from the Fall of a Meteorite, but it is not a fragment of Meteorite. It is part of the Group of Stones called Impactite. Indeed During the impact of the Celestial Object with the surface of the Earth, an intense shock creates Debris which, under the influence of strong heat, melts and is projected into the atmosphere, sometimes several kilometers from the impact zone. These debris crystallize as they cool and give rise, among other things, to Tektite.
  • It is therefore a natural glass formed from a meteorite melting the local rock. Depending on the nature of the latter, the composition of Tectites varies. Therefore, many varietal names are assigned to Tektites from different localities.
