• Malachite belongs to the large family of carbonates. More precisely, it is a hydrated copper carbonate. It is found in copper mines scattered throughout the world: in Africa, Australia, Arizona in the USA, in the Urals in Russia, in Italy, and even in France near Lyon in Chessy-les-Mines and in the Var at Cap Garonne.
• Of very average hardness, especially in massive forms, malachite scratches quite easily (rated 3.5 to 4 on a scale of 10 established by the mineralogist Friedrich Mohs).

Virtues on the physical level:

• Calming. Malachite provides physical balance.
• Absorbs energies, placed on painful areas it will drive away the evil.
• Very useful, due to the copper it contains, against all ailments related to muscles and tendons.
• Stone for discharging excess energy - ideal for magnetizers.

Chakras:

• A round slice of malachite with a concentric circular structure placed on the heart chakra restores balance.
• Malachite purifies and activates the chakras. On the heart chakra, it opens the heart to unconditional love.

Cleaning & purification:

• Malachite has the particularity of being very absorbent, it saturates quickly and you will need to clean your stones after each use. Pure water is the easiest and most effective way. You can use tap water or better still, demineralized water. Do not let it soak for too long and definitely do not add salt.
• The other recommended method is fumigation: pass the stone under the smoke of incense, sandalwood, or sage. You can alternate this very gentle method with water purification.

• The quartz mat (or geode) or the amethyst mat (or geode) allow both cleansing and recharging
• You will recharge it inside an amethyst geode or more simply in the morning sun because malachite fears strong heat.
• Malachite is cleansed in moonlight or sunlight. It is recharged on a quartz or amethyst mat.

Cleaning, recharging, reprogramming:

• Clean with clear spring water or filtered water (never add salt to the water. Salt alters the structure of the mineral and damages it). Soak the mineral overnight in an unmarked glass container, then take it out in the morning to rinse it with new spring or filtered water. 
• Direct recharging on a crystal or amethyst druse, in a crystal or amethyst geode. You can also place a dozen laser or rock crystals in a circle (like a time dial), points towards the center, and place your minerals in the center to recharge them. Another method is to place your minerals in a singing bowl: Tibetan or crystal bowl, (on a cotton cloth to avoid bowl / mineral vibrations), then ring the bowl to fill your minerals with this sound energy. Last method, place your minerals on a disc (wood or mineral) engraved with the flower of life or the seal of Solomon or any other form of sacred geometry. 
• Reprogramming: Reprogramming is not about telling your mineral what to do or not to do, but about putting the mineral in resonance with you to ask it to do what it must do, for you. Reprogramming must be done after each cleansing and must remain simple. Example of reprogramming: "I ask this mineral to bring me all the virtues and benefits on the different levels, for my greater good as well as for the greater good of the people around me."
