Brazilian Amethyst - Stone of Harmony & Energy Purification

Amethyst:

Amethyst mineralogical properties:

  • Amethyst is a violet-hued quartz crystal. It gets its color from manganese, iron, and titanium. It is found particularly in South Africa, Brazil, Canada, India, Madagascar, the Urals, and Uruguay. Its crystal system is trigonal.

Etymology:

Its name comes from the Greek " a-methustes " or " amethystos " meaning "which protects against drunkenness." Indeed, in ancient times, the Greeks considered it a good remedy against drunkenness. This is why the chalices of the time were often encrusted with amethysts.

History :

  • Since the Middle Ages, amethyst has been credited with encouraging celibacy, faith, and humility. For this reason, it was considered the dominant episcopal stone and was widely used as an inlay in ornamental objects in the Catholic Church. Leonardo da Vinci wrote that amethyst was capable of "dispelling diabolical thoughts and accelerating intelligence." It is said to enhance the wearer's seriousness and credibility.

Family :

  • Amethyst is part of the large quartz family, along with citrine, ametrine, rock crystal, smoky quartz, prasiolite, etc. It is dichroic, meaning that it has the property of having a different color depending on the angle of observation.

Color :

  • violet-blue, violet-red, violet-grey. A strong dichroism turning violet-red is an excellent quality criterion. If the Amethyst undergoes heat treatment, it becomes either yellow (Citrine), green (Prasiolite), or violet-brown (resembling Smoky Quartz). This treatment is stable and permanent, unless the Amethyst is again subjected to a temperature above 200°.

There are different types of amethyst:

Amethyst from Brazil:

Amethyst from Brazil
  • This is the best-known of the Amethysts, and is particularly renowned for its spectacular geodes, which can sometimes reach 2 meters in height. When they are not forming geodes, Amethyst crystals line the walls of veins, and it is in the form of aggregates, or groups of crystals, that it is most commonly found.

Uruguayan Amethyst:

Amethyst from Brazil
  • Uruguayan amethyst, which is rarer, has smaller crystals with a more intense color than those from Brazil. They are very shiny. It does not form geodes but sometimes small cavities that are cut into the parent rock. Uruguayan amethyst is particularly popular with discerning amateurs and collectors. It sometimes occurs in the form of groups of crystals forming domes.

Amethyst Flower:

Amethyst from Brazil
  • This is a very particular form of Amethyst, it displays its crystals of a transparent and subtle purple, like a daisy.

The Amethyst Cactus:

Amethyst from Brazil
  • The mauve-colored Cactus Amethyst from South Africa, discovered in 2002, appears as a central crystal at the top, surrounded at its base by a multitude of small crystals.

The Amethyst of Vera Cruz:

Amethyst from Brazil
Amethyst from Vera Cruz, Mexico, forms small, fine needle-like crystals of a pale purple with beautiful transparency.

Properties and virtues of amethyst in lithotherapy:

  • The virtues of amethyst are soothing and purifying. It relieves stress, calms insomnia and promotes concentration and meditation. It is a very beneficial stone for the mind, which allows one to find balance and serenity. Leonardo da Vinci wrote about it that it had the power to " dispel bad thoughts and sharpen intelligence" . It also has the virtue of re-harmonizing places and bringing softness and harmony and a lot of zenitude.

virtues of amethyst on the emotional and spiritual:

Amethyst from Brazil
  • Amethyst promotes mental calm, ideal for facilitating a spiritual practice such as meditation or Reiki among other activities of the mind requiring mental calm. It allows depressives and people who tend to overthink to free themselves from the incessant cycle of thoughts that assail them. This mineral has properties of purification of the wearer's aura, allowing him a better open-mindedness. Amethyst will promote dreams, intuition, since your mind will be more relaxed you will be better able to capture messages from the subconscious and you will be more attentive to it.

Virtues on the physical level:

  • Amethyst relaxes muscles, especially in the neck and shoulder area. In lithotherapy, it is used to combat gastric acidity and to more quickly eliminate various harmful elements from the body, such as alcohol, drugs, and toxins. It reduces headaches and promotes healing. To help combat addiction, it is even possible to regularly drink amethyst elixirs, ensuring that this beverage is properly prepared or by purchasing it from a specialist store.

Purification and recharging:

  • Amethyst is also used to recharge other minerals because the frequency of a geode is like a reminder of the bowels of the earth in which all the minerals are at the beginning. You can therefore place your jewelry and minerals in the heart of your geode, no need to have a specimen like this one below, which will cost you a lot of money

  • You can place your minerals and jewelry in a smaller geode like the one below, which will also be more budget-friendly.

Or even place them on a druse like the photo below.

  • After a while the stone has given all the energy it could, it can be purified energetically by immersing it in water for several hours. Avoid charging it in the sun because it will eventually lose its colors, the ultraviolet rays of the sun will make it whiten.

chakras:

The action is done on the 7th crown chakra.

Origin:

  • Africa, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Russia, USA, Madagascar.

Cleaning, recharging, reprogramming:

  • Clean with clear spring water or filtered water (never add salt to the water. Salt alters the structure of the mineral and the abyss). Soak the mineral overnight in an unmarked glass container, then take it out in the morning to rinse it with fresh spring or filtered water.
  • Direct charging on a crystal or amethyst druse, in a crystal or amethyst geode. You can also place a dozen laser crystals or rocks in a circle (like a time dial), points towards the center, and place your minerals in the center to charge them. Another method is to place your minerals in a singing bowl: Tibetan or crystal bowl, (on a cotton cloth to avoid bowl/mineral vibrations), then ring the bowl to fill your minerals with this sound energy. Last method is to place your minerals on a disc (wood or mineral) engraved with the flower of life or the seal of Solomon or any other form of sacred geometry.
  • Reprogramming: Reprogramming is not about telling your mineral what to do or not to do, but about putting the mineral in resonate with you to ask it to do what it needs to do, for you. Reprogramming must be done after each cleansing and must remain simple. Example of reprogramming: "I ask this mineral to bring me all the virtues and benefits on the different levels, for my greater good as well as for the greater good of the people around me."
