• From Greek akhatês, agate takes its name from a river in Sicily where it was found in abundance.
• Agates are minerals that transmit an energy that works gently on the subtle bodies as well as on balance and stability.
• Agate is said to enhance eyesight, grace and eloquence, to be a powerful antidote to poisons and toxic substances and a particularly calming and relaxing stone for children.

• In the Middle Ages, agates were tied to the horns of oxen to ensure a good harvest. This rock has often been linked over the centuries to man's relationship with nature, promoting the generous growth of garden plants, and protecting against snake bites, insect stings, or scorpion stings. It was also a protective stone against minor ailments and everyday troubles. It is reputed to promote balance in the body and mind, preventing falls as well as energy blockages. It is said to alleviate blood and skin problems and preserve lung health. This stone is associated with the second chakra, linked to sexual energy, human relationships, and creativity.

• These stones act directly on the cause of an illness or problem, they help improve mental functions and bring clarity to the vision of things. Agate is also useful for overcoming negative emotions by bringing love and security to the chakras.

Cleaning, recharging, reprogramming:

• Clean with clear spring water or filtered water (never add salt to the water. Salt alters the structure of the mineral and damages it). Soak the mineral overnight in an unmarked glass container, then take it out in the morning to rinse it with new spring or filtered water. 
• Direct recharging on a crystal or amethyst druse, in a crystal or amethyst geode. You can also place a dozen laser or rock crystals in a circle (like a time dial), points towards the center, and place your minerals in the center to recharge them. Another method is to place your minerals in a singing bowl: Tibetan or crystal bowl, (on a cotton cloth to avoid bowl / mineral vibrations), then ring the bowl to fill your minerals with this sound energy. Last method, place your minerals on a disc (wood or mineral) engraved with the flower of life or the seal of Solomon or any other form of sacred geometry. 
• Reprogramming: Reprogramming is not about telling your mineral what to do or not to do, but about putting the mineral in resonance with you to ask it to do what it must do, for you. Reprogramming must be done after each cleansing and must remain simple.
