Q: Why has my blue kyanite lost its color?

A: Discoloration of Blue, Indigo, and Green Kyanite is mainly caused by prolonged sun exposure (UV degrades iron-titanium colored centers), excessive heat, or very rarely contact with strong acids. Prevention: store in an opaque fabric pouch, avoid sunny windows, no direct sunlight, prefer moonlight, optional recharging. Discoloration is generally irreversible. Energetic properties (alignment, communication, self-purification) remain completely intact despite color change - only aesthetic aspect affected.

Q: Can kyanites break easily?

A: Kyanite has perfect cleavage (2 main directions) making the stone relatively fragile to shocks and pressures perpendicular to the cleavage planes. The elongated blade structure is particularly vulnerable. Careful handling is essential. Avoid falls, shocks, and strong pressure. Black Kyanite in radiated fan-shaped forms is very fragile at the ends. Store hard stones separately, in individual protective pouches. Despite its physical fragility, cleaved fragments fully retain their energetic properties and remain usable. Some therapists intentionally use small, separate blades for targeted work on specific chakras.
