What is K-2?

  • K-2, also known as “K-2 Jasper” and “Raindrop Azurite”, is an extremely interesting mineral from the Skardu region of northern Pakistan. It's like a magnet for everyone who sees it for the first time. It is actually a brilliant white granite (not jasper), which contains strongly contrasting orbs of bright blue azurite. Azurite orbs range from a few millimeters to about two centimeters in diameter. On a broken surface or slab surface, the blue orbs look like bright blue ink drops that have splattered onto the rock. Upon closer inspection, however, you'll see that they are actually spherical in shape.
  • Although “K-2 Jasper” is the name most commonly used when marketing this mineral, it is definitely not jasper. If you examine the rock with a magnifying glass, you will see cleavage faces of feldspar minerals and black flakes of biotite.
  • White granite is very fine and composed of quartz, sodium plagioclase, muscovite and biotite. Some specimens show strong alignment of biotite grains and could be called "granite gneiss".
  • Examining azurite spheres using a good magnifying glass or microscope reveals that azurite is present along mineral grain boundaries, inside tiny fractures, and as " dye” penetrating into the feldspar grains. Azurite is a secondary material that clearly formed after all the other minerals in granite solidified from the parent melt.
  • People Don't Believe It's Azurite Many people see this mineral at mineral fairs or shows or lapidary shows and immediately think that the round blue dots were produced with a dye. When they question the identity of the blue mineral and learn that it is "azurite", they usually find it hard to believe because white granite and azurite are rarely found together. For most people, this is the first time they have seen the two minerals in such close association.

Where is K-2 located?

  • K2 granite is named after a mountain in the Karakoram range near the Pakistan-China border. K2, also known as "Mount Godwin Austen", is the second highest mountain in the world. Azurite granite is found in the colluvium near the base of the mountain. It is in a very remote area visited by very few people.
  • These rugged snow-capped peaks make mining difficult, which is why this special stone is extremely rare and hard to find.
  • Great things never come easy but it's always worth it, especially in K2's case. A rare combination of azurite and granite.
  • The second highest mountain in the world: a view of K2, also known as Godwin Austen, in the morning sun. With a summit altitude of 8,611 meters, K2 is the second highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest (8,848 meters), and ahead of Kangchenjunga (8,586 meters).
  • However, the K-2 Stone is a rare and unique stone (hence its high price, unlike others much cheaper which are only vulgar counterfeits), whatever the mineral composition, making it possible to achieve the highest peaks of consciousness and core energy in third dimensional reality.

Lapidary properties

  • K2 granite cuts and polishes beautifully. Due to its high feldspar content, it can be easily cut with a lapidary saw and shapes quickly on a diamond wheel. Although azurite has a Mohs hardness of 3.5 to 4, the blue points have the same cutting and polishing properties as the surrounding white granite. This is because azurite exists as a speck rather than discrete mineral grains.
  • Some specimens also have small areas colored green with malachite. In the photo above of K2 you can see small spots of green malachite.
  • Azurite Granite with Malachite: The photo above shows a close-up of a piece of K2 granite. Dozens of green malachite spots can be seen in this specimen.

  • Gives access to the Akashic Records.
  • Promotes openness to universal wisdom.

Chakra:

  • 3rd eye, 6th Ch.

Cleaning, recharging, reprogramming:

  • Cleaning with clear spring water or filtered water (never salt in the water. Salt alters the structure of the mineral and the abyss). Soak the mineral overnight in an unmarked glass container, and then take it out in the morning to rinse it with new spring or filtered water.
  • Direct recharge on a crystal or amethyst druse, in a crystal or amethyst geode. You can also place a dozen laser or rock crystals in a circle (like a time dial), points toward the center, and place your minerals in the center to recharge them. Another method, place your minerals in a singing bowl: Tibetan or crystal bowl, (on a cotton cloth to avoid bowl/mineral vibrations), then ring the bowl to fill your minerals with this sound energy. Last method, place your minerals on a disc (wood or mineral) engraved with the flower of life or the seal of Solomon or any other forms of sacred geometry.
  • Reprogramming: Reprogramming consists not of telling your mineral what it should or should not do, but of putting the mineral in resonate with you to ask him to do what he needs to do, for you. Reprogramming must be done after each cleaning and must remain simple. Example of reprogramming: "I ask this mineral to bring me all the virtues and benefits on different levels, for my greatest good as well as for the greatest good of the people around me."
